Trolleys of goods for the stalls in Ladies Market
Here we see the trolleys of goods for the stalls being moved from where they have been stored overnight to the stalls. Each one is marked with the stall number it is destined for. The storage is often in nearby shop spaces which have been converted into warehouses for the stall holders.
Some of the stall holders are older people or not able to move such large amounts of goods twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, so they hire people to help just with the moving. These are often ethnic minorities such as Pakistanis who live in Hong Kong and speak Cantonese but are not fully integrated into the society, mostly because they do not read and write Chinese, and so take labouring jobs such as these.
