How to Get to Ladies' Market from Tsim Sha Tsui

The district of Tsim Sha Tsui (variously written as TST or Tsimshatsui) covers the southern tip of Kowloon peninsular. Split into the main Tsim Sha Tsui area and Tsim Sha Tsui East it contains many facilities for tourists including hotels, museums and public spaces such as the Avenue of Stars and major attractions such as Star Ferry.

As a visitor to Hong Kong you will inevitably spend time in TST even if you are not staying in one of the many hotels along the Golden Mile, the southern end of Nathan Road.  From TST to Ladies' Market is not a long way, but may be too far to walk if it is hot or you have children or those with limited mobility in your group.

Consider taking the MTR or a bus.

Option 1 - MTR

  1. Follow signs to the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station
  2. Avoid "East Tsimshatsui Station" which is on the wrong line.
  3. (optional) Inside the station buy a ticket for HK$5.50
  4. Go through the turnstile with your ticket, or pay HK$5.20 using an Octopus Card
  5. Take the escalator down to the platform of the Tsuen Wan line
  6. Board a train going towards Tsuen Wan
  7. Get off the train at the third stop; Mongkok Station
  8. Leave the station via the Bank Centre exit, signed E and then E2
  9. Outside the station walk directly away for 50 meters to the junction with Tong Choi Street
  10. You have arrived at Ladies' Market!

This point, at the junction of Nelson Street and Tong Choi Street, is near the centre of the market. Turn right or left to enjoy the market, with more to see on the right side but both have plenty to see.

Option 2 - Bus

  1. Catch the 1A bus anywhere outside Star Ferry or along Nathan Road, going north
  2. Get off the bus at the Changsha Street junction
  3. Walk back along the main road to the junction with Dundas
  4. Cross the road
  5. Walk along Dundas Street until you reach Tong Choi Street
  6. You have reached the beginning of the Ladies' Market

This route means you arrive at the end of the Market, or the beginning if you prefer to think of it like that. Then a whole market is in front of you all the way up to Argyle Street!
